Carla Fernández is the founder and designer of ethical fashion design company Taller Flora. Unlike Western pattern-making, indigenous clothes are pieced together from large geometric shapes. Using these ancient forms and working with rural communities, Carla crafted her label Taller Flora. The cloth is made using traditional back-strapped looms, which is hand worked into garments. She developed a passion for fashion from her mother, who shopped for clothes including both new and previously worn fabric, and from her father who worked as a Director of Museums at Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History.
